Friday's Five 🖐🏼 #108
Happy Friday's Five,
I am happy to be back in Berlin after an intense and emotional time in Belgium and a few days away 'in the woods.'
What I'm reading
Sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari was one of the books I highly enjoyed discovering and reading a few years back and it's impressive to have witnessed the meteoric rise of this world-wide bestseller. If you haven't read it and would appreciate a shorter version, Neil Kakkar spent 25 hours to create a cut-down version of the book. Read it here.
What I'm listening to
I wonder if in 2014 when he started the StartUp podcast, Alex Blumberg had imagined that one day he'd sell his company Gimlet Media to Spotify. Today, 4+ years later, that's the case and Alex shares the process of getting acquired in this final season of the StartUp podcast. It's a fascinating look into a process often hidden to the outside world.
What I'm watching
El Camino is the long-anticipated Breaking Bad movie and I thought it concluded the story of the popular series nicely. Its focus is clearly on Jesse Pinkman and feels more like three episodes of the series condensed into one movie and I didn't mind. You'll still get your signature intense Breaking Bad moments.
What I'm thinking about
"The greatest sources of our suffering are the lies we tell ourselves." – Elvin Semrad
What else?!
Luisa Neubauer is one of the leading voices in Germany's climate activism movement and co-organizer of Fridays For Future in Germany. We interviewed her live on stage for the German Role Models Podcast on the main stage of Female Future Force Day and she's such an inspiring force which makes her the Leader of the Week. Listen to it here.
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
David
