Friday's Five 🖐🏼 #120
Happy Friday‘s Five,
Shalom, once more and one last time, from Israel—I‘m spending the last few days in Jaffa, the old town of Tel Aviv before returning home and work on Sunday.
What I‘m reading
'Where the Crawdads Sing' by Delia Owens. My cousin Cathy recommended this to me and it was a beautiful coming-of-age story set in a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. It’s a fast read and I couldn‘t put it down.
What I‘m listening to
Once or twice a year, I go on a Doves bender. Doves has been one of my favorite bands since getting introduced to them by the singer of a band I tour managed in 2003 (aka the hottest summer of the decade). They wrote some of my favorite and most-played songs which have been loyal hymns in many moments of my life. I compiled a playlist with my favorite Doves songs here in case you want to check them out.
What I‘m watching
'Roman J. Israel, Esq' stars an incredible Denzel Washington in this movie I watched about the story of a savant-like civil rights defense attorney who face a decision that challenges his own ethics. Denzel Washington was nominated for an Academy Award and a Golden Globe award for his performance and it's well deserved. Find it on Netflix.
What I‘m thinking about
"Sometimes it takes darkness and the sweet confinement of your aloneness to learn anything or anyone that does not bring you alive is too small for you." – David Whyte
What else?!
In 2020, I want to spend more time in museums. Inspired by my friend Sebastian, I got an annual pass to visit almost 20 of the top museums in Berlin. Can't wait for the next weekend and perhaps, I'll bump into one of you there.
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
David
