Friday's Five 🖐🏼 #152
Happy Frida's Five,
Today my summer vacation starts and I can't wait to unwind and recharge for a bit before a busy fall.
What I'm reading
For design and transportation nerds, this is a great piece that looks at the fascinating (and turbulent) history of Berlin’s public transport map designs. Which one's your favorite?
What I'm listening to
In 2017 I discovered this indie-pop anthem by band called Sea Girls and for the next three years found a new single by the band every few months in my Spotify Discover Weekly playlist. I wondered when they would release a debut album and it finally happened this week. If you're looking for a summer record that will make you smile, have a listen to the band's album 'Open Your Head'. Listen on Spotify.
What I'm watching
What happens when an (American) college football coach comes to England to manage a Premier League football team? Fun happens. Watch the trailer.
What I'm thinking about
"But we overlay the present onto the past. We look back through the lens of what know now, so we're not seeing it as people who we were, we're seeing it as the people we are, and that means the past has been radically altered." – Ann Patchett in the wonderful 'The Dutch House'
What else?!
Today, my friend and composer Claudio Donzelli, who is a also one third of the band Mighty Oaks, released a new solo piece called OSSESSIONE. Fusing music, cinematography, and contemporary dance, Claudio and his collaborators created a contribution to the discourse on practices by social media brands and its effect on the human brain and the dopamine-reward loop. Watch the 5-minute piece here.
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
David
