Friday's Five ๐๐ผ #156
Happy Friday's Five,
Hello from Munich where I spent the week with a new client. It was an intense, exciting, and rewarding week. Also: I like Munich.
What I'm reading
'The Tattooist of Auschwitz' by Heather Morris tells the story of how Slovakian Jew Lale Sokolov, who was imprisoned at Auschwitz in 1942, fell in love with a girl he was tattooing at the concentration camp. The story is based on the real lives of Sokolov and his wife, Gita Furman. More about the book on Goodreads.
What I'm listening to
Two podcast recommendations this week. First, a new podcast by Gimlet Media called 'How to Save a Planet', a podcast that asks the questions about what we need to do to solve the climate crisis. Listen to it here. Second, a new podcast episode of our own Role Models Podcast with Anna Dushime. As a child, Anna, her mother, and her sisters survived the genocide in Ruanda. Today, she's a serial podcaster, editor in chief of a production company, and a journalist with a weekly column in a German newspaper. This was such a refreshing and great conversation, a personal highlight of the past weeks. Listen to it here.
What I'm watching
The 'Chef's Table' of tacos, 'Taco Chronicles', is back with a new season on Netflix and I started binging it last night. I love tacos. And I love this show. Watch the trailer.
What I'm thinking about
"Children are a kind of cartography, and all one has to do is obey the map they present to you on the day they are born." โ Hanya Yanagihara in her novel 'A Little Life'
What else?!
With 14 million monthly listeners, 'How I Built This' is one of the big and popular podcasts out there. Guy Raz is an exceptional host and interviewer and explores how entrepreneurs have built their successful businesses. In his new book, Guy Raz shares insights from the many interviews he's conducted with some of the worldโs top entrepreneurs on how to start, launch, and build a successful venture. More about the book.
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
David
