Friday's Five 🖐🏼 #164
Happy Friday's Five,
I had a good week with a mix of intense and rewarding coaching sessions, an in-depth assessment of leaders as part of a large client project, and a 2021 planning session with a long-time favorite client. Other than that:
What I'm reading
Farnam Street Blog is a blog by Shane Parrish dedicated to helping people think better. Shane is also the host of The Knowledge Project podcast of which I have shared episodes here in this newsletter in the past. Shane has put together two books on mental models and this week I read 'The Great Mental Models Volume 1' - General Thinking Concepts. Read more about the book.
What I'm listening to
Ólafur Arnalds released his new album today. Packed with dreamy soundscapes, it's an album for the season. Listen to 'Some Kind of Peace' on Spotify.
What I'm watching
Swedish is one of my favorite languages. I love the sound of it. 'Love and Anarchy' is a Swedish comedy series on Netflix about Sofie, a consultant tasked with turning around a publishing house where she meets the young IT expert Max. And then things take their own ways. Watch the trailer here.
What I'm thinking about
"We tend to undervalue the elementary ideas and overvalue the complicated ones." – Shane Parrish in The Great Mental Models.
What else?!
Alva Concept is a young label founded by three women in Berlin who create ceramics in a sustainable and fair way. Handcrafted in Portugal, they create mugs, plates, bowls, and vases in timeless designs. Personally I went with a set of Mira Sand pasta plates and mugs and perhaps you find something you like too. Check it out.
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
David
