Friday's Five ๐๐ผ #166
Happy Friday's Five,
Had another great week with my client Bio Company, a great online workshop with two ForChiefs colleagues for A1 Austria on unconscious biases, a few coaching sessions, and some time improving my apartment's interior.
What I'm reading
If you're looking for a source of clarity and inspiration on topics like life, wealth, and happiness, make sure to read 'The Almanack of Naval Ravikant' by Eric Jorgenson. Naval is an entrepreneur and investor and Eric curated Naval's most essential tweets and blog posts into a short book that I am sure will be a great companion for the upcoming season of year-end reflections. More about the book.
What I'm listening to
Our world and our time deserve and need a serious dose of vulnerability. It's encouraging to see (and hear) two relative alpha-type men be vulnerable to each other and thereby role modelling it for others. I enjoyed this conversation between Tim Ferriss and Dax Shepard and I am curious to hear if did too. Listen to the episode.
What I'm watching
This week I've felt inspired by the courage, determination and leadership of two exceptional young female activist leaders, Luisa Neubauer and Greta Thunberg. Two recent documentaries portray their engagement to address one of theโif not theโgreatest challenge the world currently faces. Watch this documentary about Luisa (in German) and the trailer for 'I am Greta' about Greta Thunberg. A great lesson in leadership.
What I'm thinking about
My 7-day fast ended on Tuesday night and I've been reflecting on the experience. Aside from a rough evening with massive headaches on Day 2 (likely caused by sugar withdrawal), the experience was great. I drank water and broth only, no food. I lost 7kg in 7 days (mostly excess water) and once in the state of ketosis, I felt concentrated, focused, and felt stable in terms of energy and mood. Had to slow or pause my running routine. I'm still in refeeding mode and mostly drinking vegetable soup and starting to look forward to a first real (healthy) meal and a glass of wine. I totally recommend trying it out.
What else?!
I bought my first copy of the German business magazine brand eins in the early 2000s and have loved their different approach to writing about business ever since. Every cover since day one has been minimalist, pure, and provoked my thinking thanks to the one single question they put on the cover. This week, we finally got to speak with the founder and editor-in-chief Gabriele Fischer, who's been at the helm of the magazine for 20 years and who shared her experience and learnings in the Role Model Podcast. Meet Gabriele.
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
David
