Friday's Five ๐๐ผ #175
Happy Friday's Five,
Final Friday on the island before I head back to Berlin and back to work. I had my first workshop of the year this week and look forward to working with my clients. Besides that, I kicked off the conceptual work of a new creative project that I will share more about when it starts taking shape.
What I'm reading
Remote work has been the topic of the year as many organizations adapt to the need to stay operational while reacting to the changing times. Matt Mullenweg, founder of Automattic (creators of WordPress), a company that primarily works in a remote setting, wrote about the 5 levels of autonomy, a great set of principles for teams to build on. Read about it here.
What I'm listening to
Sam Fender is an artist that only came onto my radar this week and his debut album has been on heavy rotation during my hikes. A great and fun set of pop songs. Listen on Spotify.
What I'm watching
'Pretend It's a City' follows author and humorist Fran Lebowitz in this 7-episode docu series on Netflix and it's just so delicious. Directed by Martin Scorsese (who is so fun to watch cracking up at the often hilarious things that Fran says), he interviews Fran in different settings in New York City and asks for her opinions on nearly everything. I loved it and LOLd often. Watch the trailer.
What I'm thinking about
โHistory is a thing designed in retrospect.โ from The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue
What else?!
โThe emotionally intelligent person knows that they will only ever be mentally healthy in a few areas and at certain moments, but is committed to fathoming their inadequacies and warning others of them in good time, with apology and charm.โ โ Alain de Botton of The School / Book of Life, in this article on Brainpickings.
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
David
