Friday's Five 🖐🏼 #24
Howdy, friends. What a freezing cold week, right?! (...in Berlin).
What I'm reading
Who Is Robert Cialdini? Meet the Master of Influence and Persuasion – Fernam Street
Manhattan Beach – Jennifer Egan
What I'm listening to
Dangers of the Sea – Mathilda (Spotify) – this reminds me of Midlake.
Brandi Carlile – By The Way, I Forgive You (Spotify, SoundCloud) – this is a great country/folk album.
Ryan Adams – Baby I Love You (Spotify, SoundCloud) – this guy! What a creative output!
Tom Rosenthal – Don't Die Curious (Spotify, SoundCloud)
Lord Huron – Ancient Names (Part I) (Spotify, SoundCloud)
Family of the Year – Hold Me Down (Spotify)
What I'm thinking about
"In order to become a Grandmaster, you must already be one." – Chess Grandmaster Alexander Stabalov
What I'm watching
The Final Year (Netflix) – A documentary about President Obama's final year in office, taken with the lens of foreign policy. Filmmakers follow the President, Samantha Power, Ben Rhodes, and John Kelly on their last tour through 21 nations in 2016. Obama's final words in this documentary really left me, well... hopeful.
What else?!
If you (like me 🙈), spend a lot of time thinking about happiness, healthy habits, and ways to respond to inner and outer expectations, you will like this conversation about these very topics I had with Gretchen Rubin, four-time bestselling author and co-host of the award-winning podcast (40m downloads!) 'Happier". Listen on Apple Podcasts or on rolemodels.co.
Have a great weekend! I'm off to Cologne to visit old friends.
