Friday's Five 🖐🏼 #50
Hello friends,
Happy 50th 'Friday's Five'! Thank you for subscribing, for reading, and for interacting with me from time to time! I've enjoyed putting this together every week for 50 weeks and hope you've enjoyed receiving it. 👊
As a Thank You! for sticking with me for 50 editions of this newsletter, I am giving away 5 tickets for tomorrow's Mit Vergnügen Podcast Fest at Funkhaus Berlin. Just reply to this email and let me know what you enjoy most about this newsletter and/or what I could differently. First five emails receive a ticket (if you promise to go!).
What I'm reading
This Really Isn't About You – Jean Hannah Edelstein (Goodreads). Highly recommended. The first sentence of the book sets the tone for this beautiful memoir by Jean, my former colleague at SoundCloud.
I was in Brooklyn looking for love on OKCupid when my father died.
What I'm listening to
Interpol – Marauder (Spotify). Two very strong opening tracks on an otherwise solid new album by a band I've been following since finding their 2002 debut 'Turn on the Bright Lights'.
My Month in Music – August 2018. It's the end of the month which means another playlist packed with songs that got me through this month (Spotify).
What I'm watching
Chelsea Peretti – One Of The Great (Netflix)
What I'm thinking about
Some of my friends' work has been severely criticized recently and this made me think that I want to consciously support and encourage friends' work in the next few weeks.
What else?!
I learned a lot from our guest in this latest episode of Der Role Models Podcast (in German), Sissi Rasche. Sissi is a midwife and entrepreneur based out of Berlin and shares that she knew that she wanted to be a midwife very early in her life. More a vocation than a profession. Listen here.
Enjoy your weekend!
David
