Friday's Five 🖐🏼 #52
Friends,
Greetings from Marseille where I spend the last two days (instant love!). If you ever make it here, don't miss the Mucem, now one of my favorite places, overall. I wish more cities would combine old and new in such a bold way.
What I'm reading
Normal People – Sally Rooney (Goodreads)
What I'm listening to
The Song Exploder – The Decemberists – Once in my Life (Apple). Loving the story of the creation and writing process of this song.
The Joe Rogan Experience – Elon Musk (Apple). Wow. What a conversation.
Unspoken – Jedidiah Jenkins (Apple)
What I'm watching
Sharp Objects – Episode 1 + 2
What I'm thinking about
Why does the process of renting a car at an airport still requires long queues and several minutes at the counter. Submission of driver‘s license, copy of passport, address, selection of insurances, etc. Couldn‘t all this be done ahead of time?
What else?!
For this week's episode of the Role Models Podcast (in German), we interviewed journalist, activist, and war correspondent Düzen Tekkal who found herself in the middle of documenting the genocide of her own people while on a trip to trace her origins in Iraq for the first time with her father. This is likely one of the most moving conversations we've had on the (German) podcast yet so I hope you'll check it out on rolemodels.co/podcast
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
David
