Friday's Five 🖐🏼 #74
Happy Friday's Five,
Greetings from Cologne airport (aah the joys of consultant life!) on my way back home to Berlin.
What I'm reading
The fundamental problem with Silicon Valley’s favorite growth strategy – Tim O'Reilly for Quartz
Reflecting on My Failure to Build a Billion-Dollar Company – Sahil Lavingia
Gyshido–or Get Your Shit Done–a helpful guide/movement for people who feel stuck – Gyshidido.com
What I'm listening to
Intriguing Conversations with Brian Thompson – short, hilarious, and indeed intriguing. Start with this one, and then that one :)
What I'm watching
Black Earth Rising – this series is excellent. Interesting and unusual plot, excellent cast and great acting. Really liking how Netflix continues to break through geographic boundaries. In this case: Rwanda, DR Congo, London, Paris, U.S. – Netflix
What I'm thinking about
"I stand firm behind the belief that, for me, songwriting isn't something that I do or command, it happens to me." – Brandi Carlile (congrats on winning 3 Grammy awards!)
What else?!
This week I was supposed to do The Leadership Circle certification in Amsterdam but had to cancel because of the flu. In preparation for this training I completed a self-assessment as well as received feedback from 7 evaluators and I found the results and the model very interesting. If you're interested in that kind of stuff (creating self-awareness as a leader), you can do a self-assessment here (it's free!).
As always, thanks for reading, and have a great weekend!
David
