Happy Friday! ☀️
A relaxing week off spent outside walking and inside reading books!
What I’m reading 📖
I’m late to discovering the author Benedict Wells and read his newest book ‘Hard Land’ this week. Set in the 80ies in a small town in Missouri, it’s the story of a group of teenagers who spend a memorable summer that changes them forever. A classic coming-of-age story that reminded me of Stand by Me. Loved it and bought two more of Wells’ novels. More about the book.
What I’m listening to 🎧
A friend introduced me to the French artist Gaël Faure and his album ‘Regain’ has been on repeat at Casa Noël all week. Standout tracks are ‘Siffler’ and ‘La belle echappée’. Allez!
What I’m watching 📺
Two best friends, a crazy idea, and a trip of a lifetime. Max and Nono set out to bike from Berlin to Peking to raise money to build a school in Guatemala. It’s a trip that pushes them to the edges, makes them experience gratefulness, and the beauty of human connections. 9 months and 15.000 km later, they turned it into a documentary. Watch ‘Biking Borders’ here.
What I’m thinking about 🧠
“Wisst ihr, was cool wäre? Wenn alle Menschen wie Katzen schnurren würden, wenn sie was gut finden. Selbst wenn sie's nicht wollen. Ein Pärchen hat zum Beispiel sein erstes Date, beide total schüchtern. Und plötzlich fängt der Junge an zu schnurren.”
– Benedict Wells in Hard Land. 😍
What else?! 💯
The wine makers in the Chablis region of Burgundy are fighting the cold to save the vines. It makes for a mesmerizing set of photos. Click.
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
