Friday's Five ✋ #186
Happy Friday! ☀️
Had a good week and after a year of pausing, resumed the work with my therapist which was both deeply satisfying and agitating.
What I’m reading 📖
What sounds and starts like a mother and her son’s road trip through Switzerland, ‘Eurotrash’ by Christian Kracht quickly surfaces the darker sides of a family’s history, namely the Nazi past. I read it in a day and loved the strong first third of the book. More about the book.
What I’m listening to 🎧
When the pandemic started a year ago, I spent 3,5 months outside of Brussels with my sister and her family. In the household, I was in charge of cooking and the Kitchen Stories app quickly became a source of inspiration for new favorite dishes for the family. Mengting Gao, the co-founder and CEO of Kitchen Stories was a guest in the Role Models Podcast and Isa and I spoke with her about her experience in building and running the company. Listen.
What I’m watching 📺
Blow The Man Down perfectly blends the genres black comedy and thriller into a compelling movie. Set in a coastal town in Maine, two sisters cover up a gruesome run-in with a dangerous man. My favorite movie so far this year. Watch the trailer.
What I’m thinking about 🧠
“There are all kinds of silences and each of them means a different thing.” – Beryl Markham
What else?! 💯
Author Ferdinand von Schirach released his most recent book ‘Jeder Mensch’ and it’s different to his usual work. In this short book, von Schirach proposes six new fundamental rights needed to address the new challenges our societies face like environment, digital self-determination, truth, artificial intelligence and others. Join and sign the initiative.
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
