Happy Friday! ☀️
Hello from Bad Gastein where I spent the week working from an apartment with a view onto the mountains, fresh air, walks in the woods, and some sun.
What I’m reading 📖
‘A Bright Ray of Darkness’ is Ethan Hawke’s new novel and I picked it up at Salzburg train station. The story follows a successful movie actor who prepares for a Shakespeare Broadway play and shows the inner workings of a performing actor while his marriage implodes. A review in The Washington Post calls it ‘a novel that explores the demands of acting and the delusions of manhood with tremendous verve and insight’ and I agree. More about the book.
What I’m listening to 🎧
My ForChiefs colleague Sofieke was a guest on The Kyōō Podcast hosted by my friends Anni and Michi and this was Sofieke’s first podcast interview. She speaks about her personal journey (Sofieke moved her family of 5 from The Netherlands to Berlin) and her work as a coach. She shares lots of insights about her work and studies and practical tips that you can use to start ‘coaching yourself’. Sofieke is a wise and warm human being and I am grateful to have her as a friend and colleague. Listen on Spotify.
What I’m watching 📺
Kate Winslet stars in this new HBO series ‘Mare of Easttown’ and it’s an excellent show. A detective in a small town Pennsylvania, Mare Sheehan (played by Kate Winslet) investigates a murder while trying to keep her own life (and family) from falling apart. All characters in the show are well developed (I particularly love Jean Smart as Mare’s mother) and I am a fan of the cinematography. Watch the trailer.
What I’m thinking about 🧠
Nicht gendern ist auch gendern.
What else?! 💯
Martina Voss-Tecklenburg has been high on our list of guests that Isa and I wanted to interview. It finally happened and our conversation was even better than I had expected. As a coach for the women’s national soccer team, we found Martina to be incredibly reflected and open, sharing insights of her life she had never shared before. We promised to come see her on the pitch at the next game. Meet Martina.
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
David
