Happy Friday! ☀️
I had another great workation week here in the French countryside with a mix of Walk ‘n Talk coaching sessions and a company-wide culture workshop with a client and their 70-people strong staff. Chouette!
What I’m reading 📖
I was late to discovering Joachim Meyerhoff’s popular 5-part autobiographical ‘Alle Tote Fliegen Hoch’ series. In September last year I read ‘Wann wird es endlich wieder so, wie es nie war’ and this week I started ‘Ach diese Lücke, diese entsetzliche Lücke’ and it’s a gem. It puts the author in his early twenties after he gets accepted in acting school and goes on to live with his grandparents who–let’s just say–life a *very* structured, routined, and hilarious life. Meyerhoff shines with his astute skill to observe and describe it all in a tragi-comedic way. More about the book.
What I’m listening to 🎧
Gang of Youths’ ‘Go Farther in Lightness’ is one of my all-time favorite albums and I’ve been craving new material by the band. To my surprise, this morning I discovered the new single to their upcoming new studio album. Instant love and now even more excited for their new record.
What I’m watching 📺
Like all of us, actor, musician, and comedian Bo Burnham spent a year plus inside. We’ve all experienced the confinement differently and throughout the year, creative people have found – well – creative ways to deal with it. Burnham captured it all in a special. Recorded in his home without a crew or audience it features a variety of songs and sketches about his day-to-day life indoors; he depicts his deteriorating mental health and explores themes of performativity and his relationship to his audience. Watch the teaser.
What I’m thinking about 🧠
‘We’re all suspect of our own talent.’ – Ethan Hawke
What else?! 💯
The quote above is taken from a monologue about creativity by Ethan Hawke. There are a few bits of what he says that made me thinking. Watch for yourself.
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
