Friday's Five ✋ #201
Happy Friday! ☀️
I turned 42 this week and I look forward to celebrating with friends tomorrow. 🎉
What I’m reading 📖
Birthday weeks always put me in a pensive and reflective mode and this collection of 100 tips for a better life helped spark some thoughts. I liked #44:
There is no interpersonal situation that can’t be improved by knowing more about your desires, goals, and structure. ‘Know thyself!’
What I’m listening to 🎧
Another month comes to an end which means another monthly playlist filled with songs that I enjoyed discovering in July. Give it a spin.
What I’m watching 📺
‘The White Lotus’ is likely to be the standout show for me this year. I watched the first three episodes and I am addicted. It’s so pointedly biting and brilliant, causing countless uncomfortable moments, and a provoking mirror of our modern times. The show centers around guests of a luxury resort on Maui and uncovers the many layers of race, privilege, and consent with “noone left off the hook”, according to a Guardian review. Watch the trailer.
What I’m thinking about 🧠
A great question from Benedict Wells’ book ‘Vom Ende der Einsamkeit’ that a Friday’s Five reader sent to me and that I’ve been thinking about since:
“Was wäre das Unveränderliche in dir? Das, was in jedem Leben gleich geblieben wäre, egal, welchen Verlauf es genommen hätte. Gibt es Dinge in einem, die alles überstehen?”
What else?! 💯
It’s still pricy but Jupe looks promising. Their tagline “Just add land” nails it. In a Venn diagram of glamping and tiny houses, Jupe has the potential to find its sweet spot. Check it out.
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
