Friday's Five ✋ #203
Happy Friday! ☀️
I’m back in Berlin and enjoying the last quiet summer weeks before a busy September and October in terms of work. I had a great time in Sweden, spending time on an island in the Archipelago and connecting deeply with old friends. I’ve missed it.
What I’m reading 📖
My friends Matze and Stephanie gifted me Matt Haig’s ‘The Comfort Book’ and I’ve been loving the uplifting short reflections on life, philosophy, and hopeful anecdotes. More about the book.
What I’m listening to 🎧
The Killers released a new album today, a surprise to me. I had been re-listening their amazing ‘Imploding the Mirage’ last week and this new album is different: more introspective, thoughtful, filled with stories of life in small town America. I’m on my second run and really like it.
What I’m watching 📺
‘Hit & Run’ is set in two cities I love: Tel Aviv and New York City. A women gets killed in a hit & run accident and her husband discovers that there is a way larger story behind it that takes him into the underworlds and intelligence community of Israel and the U.S. It gave me some ‘24’ vibes filled with action, suspense, and thrill. Watch the trailer and find it on Netflix.
What I’m thinking about 🧠
“It is a strange paradox, that many of the clearest, most comforting life lessons are learnt while we are at our lowest. But then we never think about food more than when we are hungry and we never think about life rafts more than when we are thrown overboard.” – Matt Haig in The Comfort Book
What else?! 💯
On the island, the Moccamaster coffee machine was the one device in the house that was used the most besides the dishwasher. I loved it so much that I just got one myself. I had no idea I could develop such an enthusiasm for a coffee machine but there I am. Drip.
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
