Friday's Five ✋ #210
Happy Friday! ☀️
Hello from Berlin after a week off on an island to recharge and soak in some sun.
What I’m reading 📖
Joey Goebel’s ‘Vincent’ has been on my reading list for years and friends gifted me the book and I finally read it. It’s a great read that I can recommend. Vincent is a young gifted boy in a troubled home who gets discovered by an experimental organization that aims to foster artists with questionable methods to produce a new form of art and entertainment that goes beyond the mainstream. More about the book.
What I’m listening to 🎧
I only discovered Sam Fender this January while on Mallorca and he’s been on heavy rotation all year. Today, his new album ‘Seventeen Going Under’ is out and full of catchy indie-pop songs to extend your summer.
What I’m watching 📺
Netflix’s new ‘Midnight Mass’ mini series falls into the ‘supernatural horror genre’, not a genre I usually enjoy and I’d say it’s more cerebral than frightening. Set on in tiny island community, the story revolves around the return of a disgraced young man and the arrival of a charismatic priest. What stands out for me in the series is the setting and the film location and in particular the long, deep monologues, testament of great acting performances. Watch the trailer.
What I’m thinking about 🧠
“Wherever you are, at any moment, try and find something beautiful. A face, a line out of a poem, the clouds out of a window, some graffiti, a wind farm. Beauty cleans the mind.” – Matt Haig
What else?! 💯
The World’s 50 Best Restaurants list just came out this week and no surprise at the top of the list. Noma makes it to #1 again followed by Geranium that is also located in Copenhagen. Berlin’s Tim Raue makes it to #31 and #45 goes to Nobelhart & Schmutzig. Here is the full list.
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
