Friday's Five ✋ #216
Happy Friday! ☀️
Just got back from getting my booster shot! 💉🦠 Before I crash on the sofa, here is your weekly dose of Friday’s Five.
What I’m reading 📖
In this (excellent) conversation between two Matzes (Hielscher & Schweighöfer), Matthias talks about the concept and book Ikigai and the impact it has had on him and his life. I was familiar with the idea behind Ikigai but never actually read the book. I’m reading it this week and the timing is perfect for my year-end reflections. For a summary of the book, click here.
What I’m listening to 🎧
Bear’s Den is one of my favorite bands of the past years. I love all four of their studio albums and revisit them often throughout the year. This week, Bear’s Den released a new song, dreamy and perfect for the season.
What I’m watching 📺
Let’s talk about The Office (U.S). I’ve watched the full 9-season series a few times in the past 15 years and re-watched it again. It gets better every time I watch it because I pick up on some new bits and pieces and nuances. It’s insane how great this show is. The overall cast is excellent but it’s the performances by Steve Carell (Michael Scott), Jenna Fischer (Pam Beesly), Rainn Wilson (Dwight Schrute), and John Krasinski (Jim Halpert) in particular that stand out for me. I love the dynamic in all of the scenes they’re, especially the scenes where Jim pranks Dwight and the love story between Jim and Pam. It’s my kind of humor and I will forever love this show. Watch the trailer.
What I’m thinking about 🧠
Building trust is one of the key topics that is part of my work as a leadership coach and facilitator. My colleague Louisa shared this article that looks into the neuroscience of trust and I found some new insights in it. Click.
What else?! 💯
Once you’re done binging nine seasons of The Office or need a sneak peek into the series, I recommend starting with their official Instagram account for some The Office memes and clips. MICHAEL!
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
