Friday's Five ✋ #218
Happy Friday/Saturday! ☀️
I’m in Brussels to spend a week with my client Cowboy for short-term and mid-term planning and some pre-Christmas time with my sister’s family and nephews.
What I’m reading 📖
Last week I shared the list of 100 recommended books by The New York Times and this week, the Times is calling vor a vote for the best book of the past 125 years. I placed my votes and perhaps you would like too. Vote!
What I’m listening to 🎧
Just in time for the more quiet season of the year, Nils Frahm comes out with a new album ‘Old Friends New Friends’ with low key piano tracks that we are used to from him.
What I’m watching 📺
The classic (male) action movie has faded away in recent years, the gen re just doesn’t seem to be in the current zeitgeist. All the more surprising that ‘Nobody’ is a movie that friends have recommended to watch. Bob Odenkirk, known from ‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘Better Call Saul’, plays a seemingly ordinary family father who finds himself entangled in a sequence of events that make his former dangerous self reemerge. Watch the trailer.
What I’m thinking about 🧠
“Have no expectations of how something should be, or you won’t see how it really is.” – Derek Sivers
What else?! 💯
Influence and persuasion is a key skill of leaders that I find my coachees often craving to become better at. Robert Cialdini is a thinker that has written about persuasion, its science and psychology and I have enjoyed reading his books. Cialdini recently was a guest on The Knowledge Project podcast to share and explain his 7 principles of influence. Click.
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
