Happy Friday! ☀️
Hello from my last weekend in Cape Town, I’m coming back to Germany after hibernating in wonderful South Africa for the past six weeks.
What I’m reading 📖
The year is still young, and yet John Green’s ‘The Anthropocene Reviewed’ already is a likely contender for one of my favorite books of the year. Known for smash-hit (young adult) novels that turned into movies, this is John Green’s first non-fiction book. Part memoir, part history, and part philosophy book, I was hooked from the first page. Get ready to learn about the story of the four boys who discovered the seventeen thousand old caves or Lascaux, the history or Dr Pepper Diet Coke, the history or the teddy bear, and the quirky random roadside attractions in the US. This book is amusing, delicious, and makes me hopeful for humanity. More about the book.
What I’m listening to 🎧
For a few years now, NYU Professor for marketing and entrepreneur Scott Galloway has been sharing his yearly predictions about businesses, business trends, and the markets. This time around, he got some of his predictions right, others were trending his way, others not so much. I enjoy following his analyses and his sharp thinking and love his fast-paced and entertaining delivery. Here’s the podcast version.
What I’m watching 📺
Ozark is a visual master piece of a series. Entering its fourth season, the first seven episodes of the final season came out on Netflix recently and with its main plot and many sub-plots, convincing cast, and stunning photography I find it all-around compelling. Yet again, Ruth and her Southern accent is my favorite character in the series and also most interesting to me. I wonder how the writers will set the end for this character. Watch the trailer for season 4.

What else?! 💯
The first month of 2022 is already behind us which means a first monthly playlist filled with songs that made my days here in sunny Cape Town.
Thanks for reading, and have a great weekend!
