Happy Friday! ☀️
Hello from Chiemsee where I am co-hosting an offsite with my colleague Peter. It’s my first week back in Germany and I spent the week in Munich and now Chiemsee. Happy to be back after some time adjusting.
What I’m reading 📖
After reading ‘Barbarians at the Gate’, I picked up another real-life business saga: ‘Red Notice’ by Bill Browder. I devoured it in only a few days. It’s a captivating and moving story of the first foreign investor in Russia who turned human rights activist after things turned sour in his business dealings in Russia. I realize that I enjoy reading non-fiction books that read like fiction so I am looking for recommendations in the same vein. More about '‘Red Notice.’
What I’m listening to 🎧
After the South African summer it was somewhat hard to come back to the European winter. It definitely helped to catch some sun in Munich and to have this song by Ironsides on repeat. A bit of summer for your ears.
What I’m watching 📺
After loving season 1 and 3 of The Sinner I watched the fourth season this week. Similar as the previous seasons, it’s a slow build but well executed. Detective Harry Ambrose (played by an excellent Bill Pullman) finds himself on a small island after retiring and healing from the experience portrayed in season 3 and joins local authorities to solve a strange death of a young woman. My favorite part in this season was the setting on the island. Watch the trailer.
What I’m thinking about 🧠
In January I decided to commit to a vegetarian diet for the year, vegan if ever possible. So far, I’m enjoying it and found it easy to adjust. I don’t miss eating meat and fish yet I still struggle to find low(er)-carb vegetarian options when traveling.
What else?! 💯
My colleague Louisa and I started a new coaching programme with a venture capital fund to help early-stage founders pitch their company to investors in a confident, compelling, and authentic way. Louisa and had a first set of sessions this week and it was great to develop a new programme, help founders, and learn about new ventures. All at the same time.
Thanks for reading, and have a great weekend!
