Happy Friday! ☀️
Hola from Mallorca where I’ve been working remotely for the week, surrounded by stunning nature, sheep, and orange trees in a farm at the foot of the Tramuntana mountains in the North-West of the island.
What I’m reading 📖
Patrick Lencioni is a writer of business books with a focus on team management. I use his writing extensively in my coaching practice and find it highly relevant especially for startup leadership teams bracing for a phase of scaling. His book ‘The Advantage’ is a must-read in my opinion for every startup and scale-up leader as it neatly frames what a leadership team’s focus should be to provide clarity in times of growth. More about the book.
What I’m listening to 🎧
I’m still on a news fast and to stay updated about the current developments in Ukraine, I caught up with a series of special episodes on Thilo Mischke’s podcast ‘Alles Muss Raus’ where he interviews different people about the conflict, like Spiegel journalist Alexandra Rojkov who was on the ground at the time of the interview, self-thaught military observer and Stern journalist Christoph Koch, and Thilo’s dad Axel.
What I’m watching 📺
This week, I watched the Swedish thriller called ‘Caliphate’, an 8-episode series that centers around the story of three teenage girls being indoctrinated to join the Islamic State. Several subplots converge into an overall theme of Islamic terrorism and women’s rights and I found it gripping and nerve-wracking. What I liked especially is how different the cinematography differed from other typical imagery about the theme. It became the most-viewed show on the Swedish Television streamer. Watch the trailer.
What I’m thinking about 🧠
Have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and do try to love the question themselves as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don’t search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. The point is to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps then, someday in the future, you will gradually, without even noticing it, live your way into the answer. – Rainer Maria Rilke (1903)
What else?! 💯
If you’re looking for a hideaway in Mallorca, I’m staying at Finca Filicumis near Lloseta and can recommend it. Bonus points for the puppy dog Fosca.
Thanks for reading, and have a great weekend!
