Happy Friday Saturday! ☀️
Hello from Bad Gastein! It’s my second time here this year and we’re meeting here with ForChiefs to start our annual internal retreat in the mountains. This week was a heavy travel week: I started in Vienna, then Antwerp with a client, Munich for other clients, and finally landed in the mountains for a much-needed breather.
What I’m reading 📖
Outdoor apparel company Patagonia once again does things differently.
A half century after founding the outdoor apparel maker Patagonia, Yvon Chouinard, the eccentric rock climber who became a reluctant billionaire with his unconventional spin on capitalism, has given the company away.

What I’m listening to 🎧
Here’s a song that has been on repeat all week. I love the vibe this song conveys.
What I’m watching 📺
After loving and writing about the mini series ‘The Bear’ a few weeks ago, this week I watched ‘Boiling Point’ which follows the restaurant-themed movies and series I’ve been enjoying. Boiling Point portrays the life of chef Andy Jones over the course of one night in his upmarket restaurant in London. The movie is shot in one take and I found this to be a great stylistic choice for a drama film set in a restaurant. This lured me into the story and kept me engaged all the way until the end. Highly recommend. Watch the trailer.
What I’m thinking about 🧠
After trying out different hotels in Bad Gastein, this time I am finally trying out Hotel Regina that was either booked or closed when I’ve come here before. One of the owners, Jason, just took us and his three dogs out for a walk and shared many stories of his hotel, the local scene and its intricacies, and his approach on hotel experiences. Running the Regina for 10 years, it became clear that Jason had a strong sense of clarity about the style, taste, and design guides his thinking. I admire that in him and in people in general.
What else?! 💯
In 2013 at a ‘conference’ on top of a mountain in Utah I met Sarah. Sarah and I have been friends ever since and she’s one of the people who makes me laugh most. She’s also a gifted storyteller, writer, and director. Her latest work, a music video, just won a number of awards for best music video for the song ‘Alexandra’. It’s incredible and even more so when you know that Sarah did it all: writing, directing, casting, props, etc. Watch the video here.
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
