Happy Friday Saturday! ☀️
Friday’s Five turned 5 this week! Five years ago on September 22 I sent out the very first edition of Friday’s Five. My intention was to share what catches my attention in any given week and make it as easy as possible to ensure I can send it every week. Five years in, I’ve sent out an edition every week and I love doing it. What I love most is the response I receive from people who subscribe. Some are strangers, some are friends, and others share their recommendations in return. Thank you for following along and for encouraging me to keep going.
What I’m reading 📖
“Call it post-traumatic hyperbole. Or TikTok pseudo-psychology. Or even therapy-speak. There are plenty of horrible things going on in the world, and serious mental health crises that warrant such severe language. But when did we start using the language of harm to describe, well, everything?” – If Everything is ‘Trauma’, Is Anything?
What I’m listening to 🎧
Some of my friends went to the Nils Frahm show last night at Funkhaus in Berlin and I am bummed to have missed it. His new album ‘Music for Animals’ is out and I will give it a spin this weekend.
What I’m watching 📺
In his videos, Casey Neistat always managed to capture the essence of what makes New York City New York City. After moving away to California for a while, it looks like he’s back in New York and again, his most recent video shows why. (via Post von Paul).
What I’m thinking about 🧠
I spent the entire week with my ForChiefs colleagues and it’s been a fulfilling, challenging, and rewarding time. Fulfilling because of the quality time we got to spend together filled with sharing and laughing. Challenging because we hiked every day from mountain hut to mountain hut in rain, snow, ice, and the sun–including ice bathing. Rewarding because we created deeper connections while being entirely disconnected from the rest of the world.
What else?! 💯
My friend Matze just announced the upcoming release of his second book ‘Die Akademie meines Lebens’ which follows ‘Die Schule meines Lebens’ and is filled with insights and learnings from the interviews he hosts in his interview podcast ‘Hotel Matze’. Just like his first book, I will pick up a few copies as Christmas presents for friends and family. Pre-order your own copy here.
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
