Happy Friday Saturday! ☀️
Hello from the train to Vienna. I spent the week in Tirol to co-facilitate an of offsite for the leadership board of an Austrian venture capital firm followed by a few coaching sessions in Munich. Professionally speaking, this offsite was the most challenging client assignment this year (in a good way) and my colleague and I received the most rewarding feedback we could imagine. It was an intense week and I look forward to a serious recharge.
What I’m reading 📖
(Parts of) history shows that in most cases, democratization has followed an authoritarian ruler’s mistake. What those mistakes are? Find out in this Bloomberg article.
What I’m listening to 🎧
Time flies and we’re already through the month of September and again I’ve compiled my favorite songs of the month ending into this Spotify playlist.
What I’m watching 📺
From the first scene and opening sequence I was hooked onto the Netflix movie Athéna. It’s incredibly well made, directed, and shot. The story follows the aftermath of the tragic death of a young man in a French banlieue who was killed by the police and centers around the tension (riot!) between the police and the affected communities and families. Directed by Romain Gavras, mostly known for his music videos and commercials, I think this is this year’s most compelling movie visually. Watch the trailer.
What I’m thinking about 🧠
Open heart, strong back.
– I’ll never forget this quote from Jerry Colonna, our coach at the time at SoundCloud.
What else?! 💯
Announced here last week, Matze’s new book Die Akademie meines Lebens is now available. I know you’re reading this, my dear friend, so once again: congratulations! I am proud of you.
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
