Happy Friday Saturday!☀️
Hello from Berlin where next to Vienna I spent my first week back in the Northern Hemisphere. Let’s just say that it took a moment or two to readjust to the local conditions. The week was filled with some confetti days capped off with a full day spent with my dear colleagues at ForChiefs. Felt good to see them and laugh a lot.
What I’m reading 📖
Settling back into work this week meant that I didn’t read anything new so thanks to my friend Matze’s newsletter, I found this article about money. Most of the writing about money is focused on saving and investing. This article dives into the behaviours of spending.
How people invest their money tends to be hidden from view. But how they spend is far more visible, so what it shows about who you are can be even more insightful. – The Science and Art of Spending Money.
What I’m listening to 🎧
Over the break I reflected on and listened to some of my all-time music albums of the past two decades. One album that ranks high on this list is Beck’s ‘Sea Change’. To me, it’s one of the best-produced albums of all times, hauntingly beautiful song-writing and orchestral arrangements. Two stand-out tracks that I often lean on are ‘Paper Tiger’ and ‘Lonesome Tears’. The album turned 20 last year and I’ve loved it since it came out. Read the story behind the album and how Beck got to work with his dad as a co-producer here.
What I’m watching 📺
‘Ted Lasso’ is one of Apple TV+’s hit and feel-good series about to return with a new season this year. In the meantime, Apple released ‘Shrinking’ that follows the feel-good theme. Jason Segal (of How I Met Your Mother), starring alongside Harrison Ford and an excellent Jessica Williams, plays a therapist dealing with severe grief and who takes a different approach to treating his patients, resulting in massive changes in his and their lives. It’s so sweet and funny. Watch the trailer.
What I’m thinking about 🧠
Impatience is an argument with reality. – Rick Rubin
What else?! 💯
For 4,5 years now since June 2018, I’ve been compiling a monthly playlist on Spotify and at the end of the year, I create another one that includes all songs of that year. Kicking off 2023, here is my January playlist. If you like to check out the previous years, here they are: 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022.
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
