Happy Friday! ☀️
A fun and packed week in Berlin filled with workshops and coaching sessions with a new client in the impact space and existing clients I hadn’t seen in a while. Good week.
What I’m reading 📖
If you had asked first-time California visitors who are also music nerds 20-30 years ago, it’s likely the name Tower Records would have come up early in the conversation. At least for me, it was one of the first stops on my first trip to Los Angeles or San Francisco. As someone who had worked in a record store in the late 90s, for me visiting Tower Records was like going to a temple. This article describes well the magic and eventually the downfall of this iconic brand in music.
What I’m listening to 🎧
German publishing giant Axel Springer has been in the news a lot lately for various reasons like allegation of misconduct and inappropriate comments. Timing wise, the start of the new podcast ‘Boys Club’ seems fitting. The investigative podcast series looks into the power structures, systematic dysfunction, and company culture at Springer. Here’s the trailer (in German):
What I’m watching 📺
If you watched The Americans you’re familiar with the main actors Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys. Rhys currently stars in the second season of the excellent Perry Mason and today, Keri Russell is back in a new Netflix series The Diplomat. I haven’t watched it yet and plan to over the weekend. Here’s the trailer.
What I’m thinking about 🧠
On Wednesday I met the singer of a band I used to tour-manage 23 years ago. After years of being a tight-knit group things had suddenly ended in a weird way–at least according to my memory. We’ve been spending time reconnecting over the past few months and spend a few hours this week remembering the past. It showed me again how different the perceived realities and memories of same events can be. I’m happy we’re back in touch.
What else?! 💯
This Sunday, Matthew McConaughey alongside Tony Robins and others, will be gathering for a one-day online event called The Art of Livin’. I enjoyed McConaughey’s memoir ‘Greenlights’ and the event is described as a ‘look under the hood’ of the moments in life he describes as greenlights. Join for free.
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
