Friday's Five ✋ #292
Happy Friday! ☀️
There’s been a jump in subscribers this week and I don’t know why. So welcome to all you new subscribers. This is Friday’s Five where every week for almost 6 years I’ve been sharing what I found interesting that week. I hope you find something you like.
What I’m reading 📖
Evaluating your own or someone else’s character usually tends to be an intuitive process, at least for me. That’s why I liked to check my own process against these 8 techniques shared by Ted Gioia. Point 2 is something I definitely look for closely. Read the full list.
What I’m listening to 🎧
Last week I had dinner with my old pal Ian Hooper. I first met Ian as a intern at SoundCloud where he played one of the first “shows” on the stairs at the office with then newly-formed band Mighty Oaks. Next to the band, Ian is working on his endeavour as a solo artist and recently released a second song from his upcoming album.
What I’m watching 📺
Ed Sheeran has never been high on my list of artists I follow and I’ve mostly heard his songs on the radio in passing. I knew he is a super star but had no idea that he can fill the Wembley Arena multiple nights in a row as a solo artist–just him and a guitar on a stage. I also didn’t know about his origins as an artist and that rap music played a big part in the early days. I love music documentaries and therefore was glad to learn more about Ed Sheeran’s life through the documentary ‘The Sum of All Parts’. Watch the trailer.
What I’m thinking about 🧠
“Don’t measure your life with someone else’s ruler.” – Kevin Kelly
What else?! 💯
Seth Godin, master marketer and author of two dozens books coordinated a world-wide volunteer effort to compile a book called ‘The Carbon Almanac’ with about 300 contributors from 90 countries in 150 days. Full of facts, illustrations, and ideas for action to drive change. More about the book.
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
