Happy Friday! ☀️
Hello from Berlin on my last day of work before taking a break. It’s been a great five work months with new and existing clients and the timing is right, I feel a need to recharge.
What I’m reading 📖
I spent a lot (all?!) of my working time with leaders and managers and support them in their development through coaching and faciliation. Often the question comes up from first-time managers about what makes a great manager and I found this post by Deb Liu answers this question in a good way. Here’s what she learned from her best managers.
What I’m listening to 🎧
‘Acquired’ is an excellent podcast that tells the in-depth stories of great companies. Its hosts Ben and David do a fantastic job in researching and telling the origin stories of some of the world’s most iconic companies like Nintendo, Walmart, or Sony. I found their recent episode fascinating where they re-tell the story of the luxury conglomerate LVMH.
What I’m watching 📺
Women’s football seems to be having a breakthrough moment these past few years. Record-breaking attendance in stadiums (Women’s Euro Cup), new teams emerging FC Victoria Berlin), and more serious investments by major teams (Wolfsburg, Barcelona, and Bayern). And in the U.S., a new LA-based team emerged on the map, backed by actors and celebrities with the aim to make it big. The story of the founding of Angel City FC (co-founded by Natalie Portman) was documented in a series by HBO and it’s inspiring to witness the boldness and dedication to put a new team on the map. Watch the trailer.
What I’m thinking about 🧠
