Happy Friday! ☀️
Hello from Berlin where I spent the week offsite with teams and online with coachees. It’s nice to be back for a bit and enjoy summer in the city between sessions. This weekend I look forward to some nature time with my best bud.
What I’m reading 📖
I’ve pointed to the excellent First Round Review, a ‘magazine’ for with in-depth startup advice, here in the past. Today, one of my coachees mentioned a fantastic article with 50 questions to ask when looking for a co-founder by Gloria Lin. As a coach for startup founders and leaders, I often deal with co-founder disputes after the initial startup phase and going through these questions before committing to one another before starting the journey would prevent many disappointments down the line. Read the article.
What I’m listening to 🎧
Speaking of co-founders, I highly enjoyed this conversation with Asana co-founder Dustin Moskovitz. Identifying as an introvert (which often poses challenges in the role of a CEO), Moskovitz talks about a broad range of interesting topics and learnings like coaching, energy management, meeting culture, leadership, and user manuals (which I love and highly recommend every leader to create).
What I’m watching 📺
What happens when a couple and their dog leave their tiny LA apartment for the countryside with a vision to build the most diverse farm of its kind in complete coexistence with nature? Lots of ups and downs for sure but an inspiring endeavour all together. Watching the documentary ‘The Biggest Little Farm’ helped me reconnect with farming and the force that is nature. Watch the trailer.
What I’m thinking about 🧠
“Two of the most common causes of startup failures are not finding product/market fit and co-founder issues.” - and that’s often before even running out of funds. – Gloria Lin
What else?! 💯
On Tuesday I facilitated a team retreat with 20 people in an offsite location I hadn’t yet been to. Kemper Hof is a beautiful old farm turned into a retreat location with lots of different workshop rooms, a huge garden, and nice courtyards. Check it out.
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
