Happy Friday! ☀️
This edition of Friday’s Five is reaching your inbox a little later than usual and for good reason. I took two days off from work because my sister and her partner are visiting from Brussels. Baby D got to meet her aunties and we are cherishing the time away from our phones talking, cuddling, and sharing stories.
What I’m reading 📖
In a podcast interview I listened to this week, the interview guest mentioned the concept of the Hubris-Humilty-Index and encouraged people to live life with a healthy balance between hubris and humility. Hubris is a word I’ve heard many times but never really understood its meaning. I now do thanks to the index and like the notion of this concept. Read more about it here.
What I’m listening to 🎧
My dad was a huge classical music enthusiast and his friends referred to him as a walking encyclopedia for classical music. A few years ago I asked him what his best recommendations are for people who want dive into genre–tips beyond the mainstream classical pieces we all know. I collected his recommendations in this playlist and of those, Beethoven’s 7th Symphony has been a favorite for many years. It’s been on repeat at Casa Noël all week.
What I’m watching 📺
This week, a new season of Fargo came out, the fifth in this anthology format after the original movie came out. I’ve always like the cinematography, casts, and unique settings of the series–which all are set in the Mid West of the US. This season stars John Hamm and Juno Temple amongst others and I can’t wait to watch the first episode. Here is the trailer.
What I’m thinking about 🧠
When considering a new project or opportunity, one of the first questions to ask is “How do I want to spend my days?” Many opportunities seem exciting but actually give you less of the life you want. —James Clear
What else?! 💯
This summer I went back to visit Antwerp after I hadn’t been in many years. And recently I discovered a new apparel brand called ‘Suspicious Antwerp’ which became an instant favorite. I just ordered two new t-shirts after loving the first one I got. Check it out.
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
