Happy Friday! ☀️
Just arrived back in Vienna after an intense day with a new client. This assignment was weeks in the making and my colleague Hugo and I noted that we felt completely over-briefed going into this workshop. The expectations from the group were sky high, some participants opened the day sharing their skepticism, and we had more to work with than we had time. And I am happy to say that Hugo and I really did a great job and lived the role of a Sidekick to the full extent. We managed to turn the biggest skeptic into our biggest fan today. What a satisfying feeling to start the weekend with.
What I’m reading 📖
While on our work trip, Hugo pointed me to a book I haven’t read but plan to. Co-written by coach Rich Litvin and Steve Chandler, The Prosperous Coach is “a book for coaches looking to build a practice with a small number of high-performing, high-paying clients. Hugo also said that he has a podcast to watch him in action coaching real clients so in the coming weeks, I’ll spend more time with Litvin’s work. More about the book.
What I’m listening to 🎧
This (wonderfully nerdy) episode of with Brandon Flowers and Ronnie Vannucci of the The Killers on the SmartLess podcast sent me on a Killers bender, something that occurs from a few times a year where I dive deep into their discography to rediscover old favorite songs and discover songs that become current favorites. This time around, that is Blowback, Life to Come, and a Dustland Fairytale.
What I’m watching 📺
Another effect of the Killers bender was the desire to watch them play live. I’ve shared the festival show at Southside Festival here in this newsletter before and watched the Albert Royal Hall show this week. I feel embarrassed for never have watched this one before as it’s a perfect showcase of the band. The intensity, the dedication, the command of the crowd. It’s a perfect rock show in a perfect venue. The trailer below is the most quiet moment of the show.
What I’m thinking about 🧠
Tomorrow would have been my mom’s 75th birthday. She passed away in 2012 and this year it hits particularly hard now that our daughter is with us. She would have loved to be a grandma and she would have loved little D. Wherever you are, ma p’tit mam, you’re here we us and we love you.
What else?! 💯
In gadget news, I was in the market for new wireless bluetooth earbuds for my gym workouts after my Jabra Elites stopped working. I went with Wirecutter’s current recommendation, the JBL Reflect Aero. First try tomorrow!
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
