Happy Friday! ☀️
This work week was special for me since after leaving SoundCloud exactly seven years ago, I went back as a coach to start the first two of several days to coach a group of leaders in their leadership development. It felt nice to be back after all these years and I even got to reconnect with three former colleagues from that time who are still there.
What I’m reading 📖
A book I’ve seen on many of my friends’ lists is ‘Thinking, Fast & Slow’ by Daniel Kahnemann, who sadly passed away last week. In his weekly blog post and newsletter, Scott Galloway wrote a short homage about Kahnemann’s work and shares some insights that stuck with him. Read more.
What I’m listening to 🎧
You know that thing when you discover a new artist through a song on some playlist and then you go and explore their catalogue. In my case, this happened with Julia Jacklin, an Australian singer-songwriter. And it turns out that for me I couldn’t quite connect with any other of her songs except for the one I initially discovered and I back to it often. It’s hauntingly beautiful. It has no verse, bridge, or chorus. To me it sounds like a musical short novel.
What I’m watching 📺
This week I watched Ferrari, the latest film starring Adam Driver and Penelope Cruz about the story of Enzo Ferrari set in the summer of 1957, shortly before the eventful Mille Miglia race. I really enjoyed the film and the performance by Driver and Cruz. Watch the trailer.
What I’m thinking about 🧠
“We give things up when we believe we can change; we give up when we believe we can’t.” – Adam Philipps
What else?! 💯
I’m writing this moments before leaving to go to a Scooter concert in Vienna. I would probably never do this in normal circumstances but since my old friend Philipp is their tour agent and in town for the show, I will go see him and I have no idea what to expect.
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
