Friday's Five ✋ #431

Happy Friday! ☀️
Hitting your inbox a bit later than usually on a Friday, the reason is that while technically still in hibernation mode, I met with a new client team today to start working on a team development journey at a big company here in Vienna. It was a cold engine start for me but it went well. It set the stage well for re-integrating into work life in two weeks.
What I’m reading 📖
Reading this book made me imagine myself in a series of university lectures in in the political science department on the subject of international relations. John Mearsheimer’ The Great Delusion: Liberal Dreams and International Realities is a methodical deconstruction of many -isms that I’ve grown accustomed to over the years but never fully understood in theory, if I am being honest. Liberalism, Nationalism, Idealism, Realism–all finding different answers to the recurring question he keeps asking: “What constitutes a good life?” This book made me learn a lot, opened new perspectives, provoked (re-)thinking, and while I don’t think that I necessarily agree with all his conclusions, it definitely made me learn and think. More about the book.
What I’m listening to 🎧
One hundred eighty five songs. Twelve hours and sixteen minutes. This is my year 2025 in music. Here’s a playlist that includes all songs collected in the playlists I keep for each month. I will spend the next weeks rediscovering. The first track already put me back to Mallorca at the beginning of the last year.
What I’m watching 📺
Outside of the list of big winning tv series for me last year, Drops of God was high up on the list of memorable mentions if I would have carried such a list. The series hit my interest for Japan and the perfectionism that is part of its culture and my enthusiasm for wine. Apple just launched the second season of the series this week and I look forward to checking back in with this series by way of its first episode. Here is the trailer:
What I’m thinking about 🧠

What else?! 💯
Here is a short newsletter and quick weekly read by Shaan Puri who shares 5 tweets that caught his attention every Tuesday on Twitter. I’ve been enjoying his emails for a few months, perhaps you will too. Check it.
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
