Friday's Five ✋ #439
Hotel Florida
Happy Friday! ☀️
My job takes me to many different places. These past four weeks alone, I spent a night and a day in a five star golf resort with a team and this week in what felt like the complete opposite. A flight to Zurich, a 1.5 hours train ride, and a 15-minute cab ride later, I arrived at Hotel Florida. It felt like arriving in on an 80s movie set. The colors, the live flamingos, the jungle inside the restaurant. Weirdly comforting.
What I’m reading 📖
This time last year I was still in wonder about the psilocybin retreat I had done. A week, two ceremonies, breath and body work. I attended by recommendation of two friends and didn’t read up on the experience beforehand. I knew about Michael Pollan’s book ‘How to Change your Mind’ but had never read it. This week, I started listening to the audio book and was particularly interested in the psilocybin chapters. And the descriptions in the book reminded me exactly of that week a year ago. It’s still, to this date, one of the most grounding, rewarding, and enriching experiences I’ve ever had. More about the book.
What I’m listening to 🎧
Welcome back with this new song, Death Cab For Cutie.
What I’m watching 📺
Affleck and Damon are two best friends who make movies, all the time. In The Instigators, Damon teams up with the other Affleck in a fun, witty, and action-packed movie about two normies who turn criminal. Watch the trailer.
What I’m thinking about 🧠
“That’s why I’m here. To make a memory a day.” - heard this in a trailer to a tv show or movie but can’t recall which one. The quote stuck with me, though.
What else?! 💯
Matze beat me to it today. I had a note saved here to tell you about my new favourite snack: True Dates. The idea is so brilliant that it’s one of those ideas you slap yourself for not coming up with yourself. Dried dates, coated with flavour. My absolute favorite are the sour varieties: sour green apple and sour cola. No sugars added, highly addictive. Dig in.
Thanks for reading, have a great weekend!
