Some personal news, a favor, and a podcast...
Friends,
you've likely signed up for this newsletter two years ago to follow the adventure of my #92days sabbatical. Turns out I never sent a newsletter. Instead, the thoughts remained drafts, and the experience a personal one.
Today, however, I would like to share some news with you (and ask you for help, see below): the launch of The Role Models Podcast. The podcast is an extension of the event series Role Models that I co-created with my dear friend Isabelle Sonnenfeld (and Diana Kimball who later moved back to San Francisco) in April 2015. The initial purpose of Role Models was to host a series of fireside chats with women we consider role models in the tech industry.
Two years in, that initial purpose has evolved and our guests now include inspiring women from a variety of sectors that go beyond the tech industry. Role Models has become a community of people that connect around the idea that we can all learn from each other and from those who have modeled the way in their field.
The Role Models podcast – released weekly on Tuesdays – builds on the concept of the original event series: wide-reaching conversations with inspiring people. These are the stories of how our guests got to where they are — including the lessons learned, the challenges tackled, the decisions made.
Today, I could use your help: please consider subscribing to the podcast on iTunes, listen to it, share it, rate it on iTunes, and if you like, let me know what you think.
My guest in this first episode is Jillian Mercado, one of the few professional fashion models with a physical disability. Jillian is the perfect first guest for the podcast: growing up, she wanted to be a fashion model but could not find people who looked like her. So she decided to become her own role model and help bring more diversity to the fashion industry.
Thank you for reading, and thank you for your support.
